Greek Wedding Photography – Chris and Angelique in South Africa

Greek weddings = NEVER a dull moment! This particular wedding that we did for ZaraZoo was beyond fun and Meyer and I had one of the best days ever photographing the wedding of Chris and Angelique in Bloemfontein, South Africa. We know Stefan from ZaraZoo from when he use to live in London. He has been back in South Africa for a couple of years now and runs a very successful business in Cape Town. We were fortunate to shoot this wedding for them as they get loads of bookings during the busy summer season and Chris and Angelique’s wedding just so happened to be in the place where Meyer and I both grew up. The wedding reception took place at Kiepersolrant. As this is a fairly new venue, we decided to do the couple shoot and bridal party shots at a different venue down the road, Monte Bello Estate. Thank you to the amazing Liesl from Iiola who coordinated the wedding and organized this shoot with Michael from Monte Bello. Liesl, we absolutely LOVED working with you! Liesl was also the coordinator for another Greek wedding that Christine Meintjes photographed at the same venue (Monte Bello Estate) only two weeks before Chris & Angelique tied the knot. Thank you also to the guys at Alexander Productions for making it enjoyable for us to work with you on the day. We hope you enjoy looking through these images as much as we enjoyed shooting them!

Thank you to everyone who contributed in making our stand such a great success (friends and family, you know who you are!). And most of all, thank you to all the brides and grooms out there who visited the show and stopped by our stand. We had really good feedback and we look forward to meeting with some of you and being a part of your special day!

Film Adventures with a Nikon F4 in Istanbul

Some of you might remember my previous post on film cameras and my (slight) obsession with the top end range Nikon film cameras. Since this post, I have now become  a few steps closer to my dream of owning all of the high end Nikon film cameras – from the original Nikon F up to their latest film flagship the Nikon F6. I am very proud to say that, thanks to E-bay (and the wife’s permission), I have already bought the F, F3 and F4 cameras, so my collection is indeed growing!

On a recent trip to Istanbul we loaded the F4 with a selection of Ilford black & white films and I was very impressed with the results. You’ve got to just love the grain and mood that you can only create with a film camera! These are a selection of images taken around the fish markets near the Galata Bridge, the famous Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar (one of the largest covered markets in the world with 60 streets and over 5000 shops). Istanbul, by the way, is one of the most amazing places we’ve ever visited and we hope you enjoy looking through these few images as much as we enjoyed being there and shooting them!

Wedding Photographers Hampshire – Sarah and Andy

Okay, so we’ve waited long enough to blog about this awesomely beautiful wedding and now, here it is! You might remember the post we did about Sarah and Andy who tied the knot at Highclere Castle in Berkshire last year and some of you might have recognized this spectacular venue as the backdrop for ITV’s very successful period drama “Downton Abbey”. As their Registry ceremony in February was quite an intimate occasion, they wanted to celebrate with a less formal wedding reception and chose a summer fete theme for this. Taplin’s Place in Hampshire was the perfect backdrop for their wedding and ideal for all the activities they had planned for the day. A lot of the beautiful details was DIY but Sarah also called in the help of an expert – Helen Carter from Helen Carter Weddings who helped her bring all the creative ideas to life! We absolutely loved being a part of this wonderful day filled with fun and many great memories! So, on that note, we shall say no more and let you have a look through and enjoy the creativity…!

I look at all these wonderful memories so often – thank you for capturing them so wonderfully!

Portrait Photographers – ALICIA and RICHARD

We spent the Christmas holiday in South Africa and were in the Western Cape for a few days when we decided to pull out the cameras for a shoot (after we decided not to “work” during this time). The great thing is that sometimes work doesn’t really seem like work, especially when you have a super cool couple like Richard & Alicia in front of the lens. At the time we found these really awesome locations where we wanted to shoot, but we had one problem – no models! So our search began…and it wasn’t long until it dawned on us that we actually knew a couple in the area – Richard & Alicia! We knew them from their time here in London but they had since moved back to South Africa. So we contacted them, they agreed and the rest is history! With photography, sometimes you have an idea of what you would like to achieve with a shoot, but these images totally exceeded our expectations – from the quirky little coffee shop at the railway station through to the images taken on the beach. We loved shooting somewhere slightly different and we hope you enjoy looking through these images as much as we enjoyed shooting them. Alicia & Richard, you guys were great – thank you for being so awesome!

Anna-Belle in London

Meet Anna-Belle. Something a little different and one of the luckiest dresses to ever travel the world! This fabulous masterpiece was designed by South African fashion designer, Stefania Morland and the concept behind Anna-belle was for photographers from all over to shoot this dress and after a year, she will return to her homeland and invite everyone to an exhibition where every art work, created by all the lucky-enough artists to come into contact with her, will be auctioned off for charity.

When our good friend Stefan Steenkamp from Zara-Zoo (click here to see his photos) first mentioned the idea of bringing Anna-Belle with him on his recent trip to Europe, we were of course super excited and started planning our shoot with her. And what a shoot it was! Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success and of course to Stefania Morland – without you there would have been no Anna-belle!

So without any further ado, we would like to introduce Anna-belle…in London!

Wedding Photographers Kent – HETTIE and ALBERTO – Part 2

We are very excited to share part 2 of Hettie & Alberto’s wedding at The High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. There is just something amazing about photographing intimate weddings – especially during the winter! Because we know Hettie and Alberto from church, we also knew most of the guests. Their immediate family flew over from South Africa to share in the celebrations and it was the combined effort of friends and family that made the day a huge success. Hettie and Alberto, it was a great privilege to observe, photograph and celebrate this day with them – thank you for letting us be there. We can just see how happy you guys make each other and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Be sure to check out our last blog post (part 1) for our take on this wedding.
